Oklahoma Sooners secure spot among the top programs for highest-priority recruit in the class of 2026

There have been few teams hotter than the Oklahoma Sooners on the recruiting trail over the summer, as the Sooners have reeled in commit after commit since May to add to their recruiting class of 2026.
Now, they might be the top dogs for another recruit, this time their top-ranked recruit in the class.
Pass rusher Jake Kreul, a borderline five-star recruit, is the Sooners' top defensive priority in the 2026 class. The borderline five-star defender is a top ten edge rusher in the 2026 class and one of the top players from the elite Florida pipeline.
Tuesday evening, he named the Sooners among his top three schools, alongside the Ole Miss Rebels and Texas Longhorns.
This recruitment has felt like one the Sooners have held a strong lead over for quite some time. Oklahoma has hosted Kreul on numerous visits, including his most recent one a few weeks ago at the Sooners' ChampU BBQ. It was a priority for the staff to cultivate a strong relationship with Kreul, and that investment has paid off so far.
It's rather telling that Kreul, a lifelong Florida Gators fan, snubbed Florida out of his top three. Kreul's father attended Florida, and he spent his life attending Florida games. It's a notable point in favor of the Sooners, who don't have to combat a hometown discount for Kreul.
If Oklahoma does secure his commitment, we should begin discussing defensive ends coach Miguel Chavis as the Sooners' best recruiter on staff. Ever since his arrival, Chavis has recruited R Mason Thomas, PJ Adebawore, CJ Nickson, Nigel Smith II, Danny Okoye, Wyatt Gilmore, and Taylor Wein, all of whom are set to be major contributors to the defense this season and in 2026.
Adding Jake Kreul to a class that already has four-star Daniel Norman and three-star developmental rusher Matthew Nelson would be the star atop the tree that would cement Chavis's legacy with the Sooners.
Who could be the next commits for the Oklahoma Sooners after landing offensive weapon Tyler Ruxer?
Monday evening, the Oklahoma Sooners continued their hot recruiting streak, adding four-star tight end Tyler Ruxer to their quickly growing 2026 recruiting class. Ruxer is their 14th commitment since May 13th. With Ruxer aboard, the Sooners sit at 15 total commits in the class, a number Oklahoma is looking to add significantly more to in […]
