The Oklahoma Sooners have lost a handful of players to the transfer portal on the offensive side of the ball that they could have really used for the 2025 season. Sure, the offense was terrible last year, but that doesn't mean there weren't players that would be huge for next season.
So, they have to attack the transfer portal hard, and that's okay because even some of the top teams in the country are going to have to do that. But for the Sooners, there are a few positions they really need help with, and one of them is undeniably the wide receiver position.
They have recently submitted an offer to one of the best available transfer portal receivers in the country former Cal WR Nyziah Hunter.
Hunter made an immediate impact at Cal despite being initially a third-string wide receiver on the roster. He caught his first career touchdown against UC Davis and quickly emerged as a key player.
By the end of the 2024 season, he had accumulated 40 receptions for 578 yards and 5 touchdowns, leading the team in receiving yards and touchdown catches. This year he had a performance at Auburn where he caught two touchdowns.
According to On3, Hunter is set to visit with the Oklahoma Sooners soon.
This would be a huge get for the Sooners, who have lost virtually everyone outside of Deion Burks, who could still leave, and the freshmen they have coming in. The Sooners will need a dynamic receiver in 2025, and Hunter could be that.
Most recent transfer portal entry signifies the Oklahoma Sooners may have to completely rebuild key position group
The Sooners are going to have a long offseason.
