The Oklahoma Sooners have lost so many players to the transfer portal, but are steadily trying to bounce back, finding diamonds in the rough at smaller programs, whether it be division two schools or group of five schools.

So far, some of their additions have come off as underwhelming, but one player they have a pretty good shit of landing, as they have recently sent him an offer, is a guy that could really be good for them in 2025.

Sooners send an offer to William Whitlow Jr.

William Whitlow Jr. is a notable defensive lineman for the Memphis Tigers football team at the University of Memphis. From Millbrook, Alabama, he graduated from Stanhope Elmore High School where he was recognized as a three-star recruit by the 247Sports composite.

His high school accolades are impressive, having been named the Elmore County Defensive Player of the Year by the Wetumpka Herald. During his senior year, Whitlow recorded 99 tackles, 43 tackles for loss, and 12 sacks, and contributed with 34 quarterback hurries, three fumble recoveries, two blocked punts, and a defensive touchdown, showcasing his potential early on.

But this isn't about his high school career.

At Memphis, Whitlow has developed into a key player on the defense. As a redshirt sophomore in the 2023 season, he was part of a successful Memphis team that ended with a 10-3 record and a victory in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl against Iowa State. His performance continued to escalate, earning him First-Team All-AAC honors in 2024.

Over his college career, he played in 38 games, accumulating 67 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, and 9 sacks, which highlights his impact on the defensive line. Standing at 6-2 and weighing 260 pounds, Whitlow's physicality and skill in rushing the passer have been significant assets to the Tigers' defense.

However, as of late December 2024, William Whitlow Jr. has decided to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, indicating a potential change in his college football journey. This move has sparked interest from other programs, with mentions of him possibly visiting West Virginia University, where former Oklahoma Sooners defensive coordinator Zac Alley now is.

At Oklahoma, he could have a significant role on the defense, as maybe a depth piece that sees quite a bit of time.
