It shouldn't surprise anyone who has watched the Oklahoma Sooners to hear that linebacker Danny Stutsman has serious NFL Draft buzz. He's been a force to be reckoned with for the Sooners over the last three seasons and has been arguably the most important player on the team in 2023 and 2024.
His playmaking has led to awesome production numbers, including recently becoming one of the most productive players in Oklahoma history.
In a recent mock draft for A to Z Sports, Stutsman was a pretty early selection in the mock draft, being selected within the top 50 picks. Stutsman was also the first linebacker taken in the mock draft.
In this mock, Stutsman was sent to the Seattle Seahawks at the 48th overall pick:
"The Seahawks have had issues at linebacker since Bobby Wagner left, prompting them to make multiple signings and trades here. They need some young stability in the room. Danny Stutsman is a high-energy, physical player who has become the heart and soul of the Oklahoma Sooners. He's a plug-and-play Mike linebacker."
Seattle recently had to make a trade for linebacker Ernest Jones to fill in their linebacker position, but he, as well as Tyrel Dodson, are both set to be free agents at the end of the season.
It makes sense for the Seahawks to try and find a younger, long-term fix in the middle of their defense.
Stutsman is an aggressive athlete, whose tenacity and athletic ability always have him involved in plays. While he's not as steady in coverage as he is in run defense, Stutsman is oftentimes in the right spot in zone coverage to quickly end a play and has the length and athleticism to match with tight ends in man coverage.
With his command of the Sooners' defense and a relative lack of top-flight linebacker options, Stutsman's draft stock should be among the best in this upcoming 2025 NFL Draft.
