The Oklahoma Sooners just got some of the best facilities in the country. However, this time it was for golf.

Sooners get new golf facilities

On Friday, the Sooners’ Twitter page posted pictures of the new golf facilities, and they are pretty sweet. The Ransom House and Brody Family Performance Facility has to be one of the best in the country.

When it comes to sports, the Oklahoma Sooners are best known nationally for their football and softball programs. They have had some great runs in Men’s Basketball, with guys like Trae Young, Buddy Hield, and Blake Griffin taking over games

The women’s program has done some incredible things and is looking at a season where they can make some serious noise in the tournament. But the golf program doesn’t get talked about enough.

It’s one of the best in the country, but college golf isn’t a sport that’s often on a national scale. When people think of or watch golf, most of the time it’s the pros on the PGA Tour or playing LIV.

However, Oklahoma has produced some big-time golfers. OU Golf has two National Championships, one in 2017 and one in 1989. They were also the runner-up in the national Championship in 2021.

Oklahoma has produced golfers like Andrew Magee, Max McGreevy, Grant Waite, Todd Hamilton, Hunter Haas, and Brad Daalke, who recently won the Internet Invitational, hosted by Barstool Sports, to find the best YouTube Golfer.

Of the 11 golfers on the current team, only two are seniors. Five of the women’s golf team are seniors. So, the majority of this team will have access to these new facilities for multiple years. That’s if they choose to stay in Oklahoma.

“The modernization of the golf training facility involved updating the Ransom House and construction of the Brody Family Performance Facility into approximately 12,687 square feet of team suites, hitting bays, a putting studio and other areas necessary to support the men’s and women’s golf programs, creating the finest college golf experience for our student-athletes and staff in the country.” – Oklahoma Sooners Athletics
