On Saturday, the Oklahoma Sooners landed four commits alone, using the Future Freaks weekend to the best of their ability. On Sunday, they carried that momentum over, starting the day by landing a commitment from Brown Bow QB/WR Greydon Howell.

The three-star athlete is staying in-state, and the Sooners are continuing to create a gap in the 2027 recruiting class, as they pull away from the competition.

Sooners see Greydon Howell as a wide receiver

“I’d be a slot receiver, and I’d basically be like [Isaiah] Sategna,” Howell told OU Insider months ago. “[WR coach Emmett Jones] told me I had a full ride. We really liked how he didn’t push to commit to OU. He was really neutral about everything, just telling me the plan of what they want to do with me and the life of being up there.”

Howell has showcased his versatility at quarterback, safety, wide receiver, and running back, excelling at each. In 2025, he recorded 2,717 air yards, 27 passing touchdowns, and seven interceptions, along with 1,514 rushing yards and 20 more touchdowns.

Those monster numbers at Broken Bow High School drew interest and big offers from the Auburn Tigers and Penn State Nittany Lions. The Oklahoma State Cowboys and SMU Mustangs were, at one point, the early leaders for Howell. Then, Oklahoma picked up the pace and used this insane recruiting weekend to get Howell.

“It’s really nice because the majority of Oklahoma people are OU fans. That means a lot to me. And they’ve always had good receivers and QBs,” Howell said.

He has a chance to add his name to that list of great wide receivers.

In 2026, the Sooners have four wide receivers coming in. In 2027, they currently only have two in Howell and four-star receiver Demare Dezeurn. Landing Howell was huge, and they don’t really care about his three-star rating. Let’s see if OU can land any more commitments before Sunday is over.
