Sooners fans just let Oklahoma head coach Porter Moser know exactly how they feel in the worst way possible
The Sooners may make a change very soon.
No one wants to see a coach lose their job, but it may be time for the Oklahoma Sooners to move on from men’s basketball head coach Porter Moser. The fans made their feelings clear at the game.
Oklahoma entered part one of the Red River Rivalry on a seven-game losing streak. They hosted Texas, led most of the first half, but faltered after halftime. The Sooners lost by 10 at home. Before the final horn, fans voiced their frustration.
Chants of “Fire Moser” erupted from the student section. OU must now make a decision.
Porter Moser takes the blame for the Sooners’ recent woes
“Sometimes not knowing how to win becomes contagious. That starts with me,” Moser told reporters after the Texas loss.
The Sooners have now lost eight in a row. They play in the SEC, so it’s expected that they lose games, and a handful of them, as this is one of the most competitive leagues in the sport. However, most of their losses have come to teams that just aren’t good. This losing streak started against the Mississippi Bulldogs, who could be 11-11 by the end of the day. They have also lost to South Carolina (11-11 ), Missouri (14-7), and now Texas (11-10).
Now, don’t get it twisted, they have also played a pretty tough schedule during this losing streak, with losses to the Florida Gators, Alabama Crimson Tide, Texas A&M Aggies, and the Arkansas Razorbacks. However, the other losses still just can’t happen.
New athletic director Roger Denny was in attendance for this game. He’s not even a full week into his job since being announced as the AD, and he may already have to find a new head coach for the men’s basketball team. This program isn’t taken seriously, while the football, softball, and women’s programs are. Last season, Moser turned things around and made the tournament just before he got on the hot seat. This season doesn’t seem likely to happen. That just can’t happen, so sooner or later, a change may be made.
