The Oklahoma Sooners are in a very unique position. Their 2027 class should be the highest-ranked class in the country, while the 2028 class has the potential to also be great, with one recruit committed already in Micah Rhodes, the No. 3 RB in the class.

They’ve already started sending out other offers to the 2028 recruiting class, including one to a Texas Longhorns legacy player.

Sooners send offer to Longhorns legacy Logan Lokey, who’s very excited about it

Logan Lokey is a 2028 defensive lineman who’s already at 6’3. 240 pounds. He has the build of an edge rusher right now, but could mold into a guy who can play inside at that three technique spot. His father played for the Longhorns. So, his family likely hates OU. That could all change if he accepts the offer. Either way, Lokey is stoked to have the offer from the Crimson and Cream.

“Class of 2028 defensive lineman Logan Lokey is a Texas legacy. His first Power Four offer came from Oklahoma. Lokey says, despite a Red River Shootout background, he and his family were ecstatic when the call came in. His father, Derek Lokey, is a former Texas defensive lineman. However, Lokey says his father celebrated in a way that wouldn’t indicate an old rival just offered. Lokey says he plans to take a spring visit to Norman in the coming weeks.” – Collin Kennedy, 247 Sports Recruiting

Lokey doesn’t currently have a star rating on 247Sports, but that should be available at any time now. When you’re basically two classes away, the ratings usually take time to come, whether it’s evaluators not having enough tape yet, or the kid going to a small school and just not being known yet, or a bunch of other possible reasons.

Lokey will be rated soon. He’s already got offers from Oklahoma, Arizona, Baylor, Houston, Texas Tech, and a handful of others. He should at least start as a three-star defensive lineman. Either way, the Sooners have to feel good about what they’ve seen on tape and how excited he was to get that offer.
