Sooners sent out a few offers to underrated players for one of their most needed positions that’s not being talked about enough
The Sooners need another wide receiver or two in the 2027 class.
When looking at the Oklahoma Sooners’ 2027 recruiting class, there is one position that stands out the most, mainly because they still need some help there. Of course, there is a long way to go before the 2027 class is final, but there is work to be done.
Sooners send out offers to 2027 wide receiver recruits
OU has two wide receivers committed: Tra’Von Hall, an athlete ranked No. 659 nationally, and Demare Dezeurn, noted for his speed given his size. They’ve offered 28 wide receivers. Only Greydon Howell, an in-state quarterback projected as a future wide receiver, is currently projected to land with OU.
So, it’s safe to say the Sooners needed to add some more prospects to that position group. They sent out a few offers on Thursday, and two of the wide receivers are pretty underrated and could be very good at the next level.
Kyron Brown and Dillon Mitchell are among those who shared on Twitter that OU offered them. Brown does not have a Rivals rating, which means the site has limited information on him. At 6’2, 180 pounds, Brown is a Texas State Qualifier in track and field and could be an overlooked receiver the Sooners come to favor.
As for Mitchell, he’s 5’8, 160 pounds. I know that sounds small, but when you watch his tape, you can see why some big-time schools have offered him. Mitchell’s nickname is “Superman,” and it’s probably because of the insane plays he makes that don’t seem real. He’s played a ton of running back in his high school career, but he’s listed as an athlete on his Rivals profile. Mitchell can be an elite route runner and downfield threat as a wide receiver for OU.
Now, let’s see where these guys end up going. For now, Brown doesn’t really have any projections of where he will land. The school with the best chance of landing Mitchell right now seems to be the Texas Longhorns. The Sooners, if they really want him, have some stiff competition.
