Sooners and one other blue-blood just set themselves apart from the rest of the contenders for a highly coveted 2027 recruit
Everyone seems to want 2027 LB Cooper Witten.
Everyone wants 2027 five-star linebacker Cooper Witten.
Sure, it helps that his father is Dallas Cowboys legend Jason Witten, but he’s also really, really good at football, and the Oklahoma Sooners have noticed that.
So, Brent Venables and the Sooners decided to put on the visit of a lifetime. We’re not exactly sure what they did during the visit, but we do know that whatever Oklahoma did, Witten and his family won’t forget it.
Michelle Witten, Cooper’s mom, was the one to go on the visit with Cooper. His father, Jason, didn’t, as he’s the tight ends coach at Oklahoma, and maybe he wants Cooper to make his decision without any influence. Michelle tweeted out after “Thank you for an unforgettable 24 hours” to Oklahoma and a blueblood that is obviously setting itself apart from the rest, along with the Sooners.
Sooners may have some stiff competition after a great visit with Cooper Witten
Michelle’s tweet started with “Elite. Set Apart,” which suggests that the two visits they took were the best of the best. We know they loved the Sooners’ visit; however, they also really liked their visit with the Georgia Bulldogs, a program that has developed many NFL defensive players over the last decade.
Georgia is a tough team to beat in recruiting. Sure, the Sooners just had an elite season. They are coming off a year in which they improved on a six-win campaign. Still, the Bulldogs will pretty much always have at least 8-10 wins. Georgia hasn’t won fewer than eight games in a season since 2010, and since then, it has had only three seasons in which it won fewer than 10 games. That’s hard to compete against.
Right now, On3 has Cooper Witten at a 93% prediction. However, Georgia is second, and you can never really count them out.
