The Oklahoma Sooners are stacking up wins on and off the field to close out their 2025 season. After taking down the Tennessee Volunteers, Alabama Crimson Tide, and Missouri Tigers all in a row on the field, the Sooners have flipped several recruits off the field away from big time schools like Texas A&M and SMU.

They struck again with another major flip. Four-star wide receiver Jayden Petit announced his decommitment from Wisconsin on Wednesday and has turned around to commit to the Sooners . This is a monumental win for the Sooners, as Petit is a potential game-changing talent.

Jayden Petit has superstar potential

Petit is the 93rd overall player in the 2026 recruiting class according to 247Sports and is one of the highest-ranked commits in Oklahoma’s recruiting haul. He is one of five receivers in Oklahoma’s 2026 crop, joining Jahsier Rogers (a Penn State flip), Daniel Odom, Xavier Okwufulueze, and Brayden Allen. I would argue he has the most potential and upside out of all of them.

At the end of his senior regular season, Petit has caught 54 passes for 1,224 yards and 22(!) touchdowns. He’s decimated the competition in Florida and looks like one of the best vertical threats in the class. Petit’s massive 6’4, 215-pound frame gives him a fantastic catch radius and he shows off his basketball background with elite body control and hands with the ball in the air with ease. On top of that, he’s a fluid threat with the ball in his hands and can pick up yards after the catch surprisingly well for a guy at 6’4.

It has been a long time since the Sooners have had a player like that, and it’s clear why this staff has been after him for so long and have continued to make him a priority even after he committed to the Badgers over the summer. Pulling him into their class of 2026 just before the Early Signing Period is a coup, and it’s one this staff and front office should feel good about for the next few years. That connection of Petit with quarterback Bowe Bentley could be a legitimate weapon in the coming seasons.
