The Oklahoma Sooners have the No. 1 2027 recruiting class by most of the composite rankings. They can extend that ranking soon, if they end up landing four-star cornerback Montre Jackson.

Oklahoma is pushing hard for him, along with other blue-blood schools.

“I have the best relationship right now with Duke, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and LSU,” Jackson told Rivals. “I’ve already visited all of those schools except Tennessee, and I’m going to try to get there in January. I like the coaches at Tennessee and the atmosphere, so I’m looking forward to visiting and seeing it up close. With Duke, I’m close with coach (V’Angelo) Bentley (DB coach), and we talk a lot.”

Oklahoma is making the biggest impression on Jackson

Oklahoma has been known to develop its young defensive backs recently. This last season, arguably OU’s best cornerback on the best defense in the country was a true freshman CB Courtland Guillory. The year before, it was Eli Bowen, a true freshman, who was also elite this last season once he got healthy.

That alone intrigues young defensive backs.

“Coach (Jay) Valai has been with me from the beginning,” Jackson said. “That means a lot to me. He was one of the first coaches I’ve connected with, and that’s never wavered. I think they’re doing something special in the ’27 class, so they’re standing out right now. I had a great visit there and am looking forward to getting back for an official visit as well.”

The Sooners currently have two cornerbacks committed to their 2027 class: Mikhail McCreary and Mikayla Davis. Adding another one wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibilities, especially considering how much time is left between now and the 2027 National Signing Day.

Jackson is good, too. He’s 6’1, 175 pounds, and has some pretty good length to him, which helps when defending passes. Venables doesn’t really have a “type” at CB when it comes to the guys he recruits physiologically. He likes guys with a chip on their shoulder who play hard. Jackson fits that mold.
