The transfer portal can be a blessing for some college football teams. The portal can also be something that takes away. As the old saying goes, “the portal giveth, the portal taketh.” It has done both for the Sooners; however, it took before it gave. One of the first Sooners offensive linemen to enter the portal was Jacob Sexton. He’s now headed to play for Oklahoma State, and it’s honestly a great decision by him.

Jacob Sexton can be a starter right away for OSU

The Cowboys have had about as bad a last two years as you can have. They are coming into the 2026 season with the expectations of just winning more than a few games, really. With new head coach Eric Morris in town, most of their roster seems to be made up of guys making the step up from Group of Five play. Sexton is a guy who will have the chance to start right away, blocking for an uber-talented quarterback in Drew Mestemaker and a star running back in Caleb Hawkins.

Sexton likely would have been a starter at some point for the Sooners, but he couldn’t stay healthy. Now he will be with the Cowboys, or at least compete for a starting role, if he’s healthy. But fans shouldn’t be worried about replacing Sexton; they’ve already got that covered.

On Monday, the Sooners added six commitments from the transfer portal, including two offensive linemen. Former Western Kentucky OL Caleb Nitta, who can play almost anywhere on the offensive line, if needed, was the first commitment on Monday. After that, the rest flooded in, including offensive tackle E’Marion Harris.

Harris is a former starter at Arkansas, where he worked with renowned offensive line coach Sam Pittman, who was, of course, the head coach there. He is good and can be at OU.
