Oklahoma Sooners fans will actually love what one former OSU Cowboy athlete just did on national television
Oklahoma Sooners fans will love what former OSU Cowboy golfer Talor Gooch did with an SGA Thunder jersey.
If there is anything true in the state of Oklahoma, it’s that the Sooners and the OSU Cowboys do not like each other. They are one of the biggest rivalries in all of sports, all time, that just so happen to not play each other anymore.
Historically, the Sooners have dominated the Cowboys in football. But, ironically, the Sooners haven’t beaten the Cowboys in over 1,000 days, in part because the Cowboys have beaten them recently, but they also haven’t played each other in a while. And, the Sooners and their fan base would love to get back to winning Bedlam again, but that’s just how the scheduling system works now that they are in two different conferences.
They hate each other a lot. But, there will always be one thing that brings the two fan bases together – the Oklahoma City Thunder, the NBA’s Championship team, who just so happens to play in one of the best cities in the entire world, in Oklahoma City, a city that has a ton of OSU and OU fans.
Recently, one former OSU athlete did something at his sporting event that would even make OU fans pretty happy.
Talor Gooch wears SGA Thunder jersey at Indiana golf tournament
Talor Gooch is a former Oklahoma State Cowboys golfer who has now turned pro and plays on the LIV circuit. He’s from Oklahoma City, so you know that he takes pride in the Thunder and the championship that was just won for the city.
The parade, and the entire postseason, was one of the few times you would see OSU and OU fans rooting for the same thing, and actually getting along. This time, it’s a former OSU athlete who did something that OU fans would love.
At a LIV golf tournament in Indiana, with a large crowd to his back, Gooch takes out an Oklahoma City Thunder, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander jersey. For those of you who don’t know, which most of you likely do, the Thunder beat the Indiana Pacers in the NBA Finals to win the Championship, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, or SGA for short, is the best player not only on the Thunder, but in the entire NBA, after winning both the regular season MVP, and the NBA Finals MVP.
As he put the jersey on, the crowd booed him, but he embraced it in such a hilarious way. He then proceeded to hit a pretty good shot as the fans were booing him, and as he was wearing the jersey.
It was a moment that everyone, no matter their collegiate fandom, in Oklahoma loved to see.
