Sooners predicted to land two 2027 defenders who could continue to keep the class near the top of the rankings
OU is predicted to land Deven Robertson and Gabriel Osborne.
While the Oklahoma Sooners are making headlines in the transfer portal, an important development in the 2027 recruiting class has emerged. On3’s Josh McCuistion predicted the Sooners will land three-star defensive lineman Deven Robertson, and Rivals’ Chad Simmons projects OU to secure four-star cornerback Gabriel Osborne.
Sooners would continue to keep one of the best 2027 classes if predictions land
Jim Nagy and Brent Venables put together a pretty good 2026 class that finished 16th nationally. As for the 2027 class, which is Nagy’s first full cycle, they have anywhere from the first to the No. 3 class in the country, depending on what recruiting site you prefer.
The Sooners already have two cornerbacks in their 2027 class: four-star Mikhail McCreary and three-star Mikyal Davis. Adding another four-star cornerback could be huge. Davis isn’t a slouch, either, even as a three-star.
The Sooners recruit and develop cornerbacks well. For example, their two starters last season, Eli Bowen and Courtland Guillory, were both three-stars. Bowen was in his second season, while Guillory was a true freshman, showing that star ratings don’t always matter. In addition, according to On3, OU has a 99% chance to land four-star corner JuJu Johnson. There are also rumblings of four-star CB Montre Jackson leaning toward OU.
Oklahoma doesn’t have a problem recruiting cornerbacks. The 2027 class could be loaded at the position. Robertson is set to join four-star defensive tackle Elijah Harmon as the only two DTs in the class so far. Those will likely not be the only two, as OU loves to stack up at DT. Looking at the current roster, it makes sense to add more DTs in 2027.
Nagy has been on fire, with both the transfer portal and the 2027 recruiting class, which could be huge for the program.
