Oklahoma Sooners starter obviously kept some receipts from last season when the Missouri Tigers beat OU
Owen Heinecke remembers everything.
Last season, the Oklahoma Sooners were one of the worst teams in the SEC. They won six games, but pretty much every win they had was because of their elite defense. They had the worst offense in the SEC by a mile, as there were so many games they couldn’t move the ball at all, and so many games they could have won but didn’t, like the game against the Missouri Tigers.
Missouri beat Oklahoma last season, and with the two being long-time Big 8 rivals, that gave Missouri fans every reason to talk some trash. Plenty did before the game this last weekend, and it’s obvious players saved the receipts. Linebacker Owen Heinecke definitely saved some receipts, as he quote-tweeted one just hours after the big win over the Tigers.
Oklahoma handled business, as they almost always have against Missouri
Not only has Oklahoma dominated the all-time series, winning 68 times and losing only 25, but it’s also won eight of the last 10 matchups and has won 18 straight home games vs. Missouri. This program, as the young fans would say, owns Missouri.
On Saturday, it didn’t start that way. In fact, it felt like Missouri was controlling the game. Then, out of nowhere, wide receiver Isaiah Sategna takes a seven-yard slant to the house for 87 yards and a TD. From there, the defense did its thing, locking down Missouri.
Oklahoma handled business and used what happened last season to light the fire. It feels like that’s what the Sooners have done in almost all of their games this season, whether it was the Tennessee Volunteers, South Carolina Gamecocks, or they will likely do the same against the LSU Tigers next week. They have to win that game to stay in the College Football Playoff.
