Sooners’ win over Alabama on the road put some very important people on notice, and it has nothing to do with the playoff committee

Winning SEC games will always help bolster your recruiting efforts. The Oklahoma Sooners traveled to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide. They didn’t beat just any SEC team — they beat the SEC team. Doing that alone is enough to boost some of your recruiting, and the Sooners wasted no time in taking advantage of that.

As soon as the Sooners finished celebrating as a team on the field Saturday night, recruiting staffers were immediately reaching out to recruits via text. Some of them even sent videos, yelling out, “What more do we need to do?” They’re already seeing some results.

Sooners are being aggressive on the recruiting trail after beating Alabama

The staff reached out to several commits after the win, whether via FaceTime, over the phone, or simply interacting on Instagram Live. Five-star tackle Cooper Hackett conversed with Stacey Ford on the phone immediately following the game.

“They (Recruiting Director Stacey Ford) went live (Instagram) and I hopped on,” Oklahoma defensive back commit Mikhail McCreary told Rivals. “I was amped, but haven’t talked to coach yet. Big win and a testament to how good the  defense is and how great a coach (Brent Venables) is.”

Oklahoma also used that moment to reach out to the 2027 recruits they are targeting. One target in 2027, CB Montre Jackson, was also amazed by what he saw. Jackson had Oklahoma as the front-runner before, and definitely has them there now.

“I love, love, love the win,” Jackson told Rivals. “Love the consistency they’re having. Definitely still leading my recruitment.”

The Sooners are on fire right now when it comes to the recruiting side of things. Well, you can say the same for the product that they are putting on the field, too. When you win games in the SEC, the recruiting results start to match that. Brent Venables and his staff are on a roll. They will finish their season out against the Missouri Tigers and then the LSU Tigers.
