While the 2025 recruiting class for the Oklahoma Sooners wasn't to their usual top-ten status, they did nab quite a few players they believe can be future impact players.

Most of the attention went to five-star offensive tackle Michael Fasusi and four-star offensive tackle Ryan Fodje.

However, don't be surprised if another incoming freshman steals the spotlight this season and becomes a major threat for Oklahoma.

Checotah, Oklahoma product Elijah Thomas was a four-star prospect and the Sooners' fourth-highest recruit in last year's class as the second-best recruit from the state.

Thomas has completely stolen the show early on throughout the offseason. His athleticism has sparked several big plays and has the staff and other analysts buzzing about his potential. Thomas's track numbers are tremendous (a state champion and bronze medalist), and you can see his easy speed on film as a deep threat.

He keeps getting better and better, and his attention to detail has grown significantly throughout the offseason. Thomas has turned heads and is seemingly already starting to carve out a significant role in the offense this year.

This makes sense, given how Oklahoma's wide receiver room struggled last season. With Deion Burks and transfer Isaiah Sategna mainly playing inside in the slot, the Sooners need perimeter threats to open up defenses. While they envisioned this to be Javonnie Gibson, he suffered an injury setback that will likely keep him out until the beginning of the season.

The Sooners needed someone to step up, and it sounds like Thomas has answered the call. While I am loathe to ever throw comparisons out for players, the last time I heard a freshman wide receiver had this kind of buzz for the Sooners this early, CeeDee Lamb had just stepped foot onto campus. He turned out pretty good, I think.

I wouldn't be surprised if Thomas becomes a major contributor on Oklahoma's offense even as a freshman.
