A family member’s first trip to Ole Miss might hold the key to a major four-star prospect’s commitment
Lane Kiffin and his staff will host a very important prospect and his family Saturday.
Cheshire Academy (Conn.) quarterback Keegan Croucher is the front page visitor for Ole Miss this weekend when the Rebels take on the LSU Tigers at 2:30pm CT.
He is Lane Kiffin’s top 2027 target and one of the most coveted junior recruits in the country. Oregon and Penn State round out Croucher’s Top 3 with Ole Miss and the 6-foot-4, 205 opted to spend his weekend in Oxford as opposed to Happy Valley to see the Ducks and Nittany Lions go at it.
But, this weekend is different for Croucher and his family. He and his father have already been to Ole Miss multiple times. But, this weekend his mother will be joining and it’s her first time in town. Could it be the difference?
Keegan Croucher’s father gives the latest.
“We’re really excited about Ole Miss,” Croucher’s father Damian told Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong. “We love the coaching staff and relationship we’ve built with everybody. Obviously Coach Kiffin is fantastic, Billy Glasscock is awesome, he’s straight-forward and transparent. Coach (Joe) Judge and Coach (Charlie) Weis are gurus at their position. It’s fun to be down there and talking to those guys and they’ve shown Keegan a lot of love and a lot of respect and we’re super excited.
“Ole Miss has been really really targeting Keegan for a long time. They have a vision for him. From conversations with the coaching staff they really believe and know he can be their guy in the future. That makes you feel good knowing they believe in him. When you have someone believe in you like that, you’re going to give your all like that and have that great relationship with the staff and that’s really important.”

One of James Franklin’s top recruiting targets chose to be at Ole Miss this weekend instead of Penn State
Lane Kiffin and Co., are hosting one of the top junior signal callers.
Lane Kiffin’s program is ready to compete with the elites for recruits.
Croucher’s father said as much this week.
“Coach Kiffin knows what’s going on,” the elder Croucher said. “He’s been doing it a long time. One thing I appreciate they don’t give up on their players. They work them, they teach them, they guid them. We cannot wait to see the LSU game.”
And his son shares the same sentiment.
“I think they’re awesome,” Croucher said. “Very good people. They are offensive gurus. They have done a great job in the past. I think their offense shows the quarterback off and is based off what the quarterback can do. The addition of Coach Joe Judge is amazing too. Having him on the staff with NFL experience is something you don’t see everywhere.”
There will be others in town who could sway Keegan Croucher as well.
Brother Martin (La.) five-star wide receiver Easton Royal is set to arrive on Saturday for the game. He has a tight-knit bond with the Ole Miss staff and is giving the Rebels a long look.
“They have always been a strong contender because my relationship with Coach Patrick Carter is probably one of my strongest ones,” Royal told Rivals Sam Spiegelman. “He has been on me from day one. He’s the first one to see the potential in me before anyone and continues to see me develop into what I can be.”
Former Oregon commit and Brentwood Academy (Tenn.) wide receiver Kesean Bowman is making the easy drive south from Nashville. Those two are pass-catchers you can build a program around.
