The Ole Miss Rebels are in a weird place right now.

Ole Miss is one of the top national championship contenders in college football as the regular season comes to a close later this month. The Rebels’ focus right now, however, is on Lane Kiffin and whether he’ll remain the head coach in Oxford beyond this season (and, quite frankly, beyond the end of November).

Kiffin is being pursued by LSU and Florida. His family took visits to Gainesville and Baton Rouge earlier this week.

College football insider details when Lane Kiffin could make a final decision

On3’s Shea Dixon wrote on Thursday (November 20) that fans shouldn’t be surprised “if the Lane Kiffin and LSU chatter heats up more in the coming days”.

Dixon also noted, after he spoke with multiple sources on Thursday morning, that “the buzz around LSU continues to grow”

So when will Kiffin actually make a decision on his future?

Kiffin might be the most unpredictable coach in college football, so it’s tough for even the most ardent college football insiders to get a good read on the situation.

Dixon, however, believes that Kiffin could make a decision by the end of the weekend.

“No matter how things shake out, the push LSU has made behind the scenes has not only been real, but it’s gained traction over the past seven days, sources said,” wrote Dixon. “I still lean – based off what I am hearing – towards Kiffin making a decision by the end of the weekend.”

That timing would certainly make sense. There are rumblings that Ole Miss wants an answer on Kiffin’s before the Rebels play Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl next week.

We’ll see over the next few days if they get that answer.
