Former Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart wins big with New York Giants and accomplishes something only 2 QBs have done in Super bowl era

Jaxson Dart proves once again his dual threat abilities are worthy in NFL record-tying fashion

Jaxson Dart has already begun to prove any remaining doubters wrong as he secured his second career win for the New York Giants against the Philadelphia Eagles on “Thursday Night Football.”

The former Ole Miss Rebels star was one of, if not the most, polarizing players in the entire 2025 NFL Draft class this past offseason, yet he still managed to be selected by Joe Schoen, Brian Daboll, and the New York Giants in the first round.

It’s looking like that was the right call. Dart scored two early touchdowns on Thursday – one on the ground, the other through the air – and demonstrated excellent toughness, leadership, and dual-threat ability. So much so, he did something only two other quarterbacks have done in the Super Bowl era.

Jaxson Dart Rookie Stats after Thursday Night Football

  • Jaxson Dart is averaging 221.7 total yards of offense per game through his first three starts, and he’s found the end zone six total times in that span.
  • Despite lower volume passing, Dart now has a higher mark in adjusted yards per pass attempt (accounting for touchdowns and interceptions as well) than QBs like Trevor Lawrence, Geno Smith, Cam Ward, and Bryce Young.
  • His 7.8 yards per pass attempt against the Eagles on Thursday Night Football would rank him inside the top ten among all NFL passers for the year (Josh Allen is averaging almost exactly 8 yards per toss this season).
  • His 4.7% touchdown rate in his three starts is already almost exactly at league average this season, and he’s just a rookie.

Jaxson Dart ties Jalen Hurts and Lamar Jackson’s record through 3 starts

Dart easily coasted to another game of 50+ rushing yards against the Eagles on Thursday. It could have been much more, but the Giants kept feeding fellow rookie Cam Skattebo at running back once they secured a significant lead.

Dart’s 58 rushing yards marked his third game in a row with over 50 yards, tying a record held by his opponent on Thursday, Jalen Hurts, and Lamar Jackson. As of Thursday, Dart, Hurts, and Jackson are the only three quarterbacks in the Super Bowl era to rush for at least 50 yards in their first three career starts.

That may not sound like an impressive feat, but it’s a surprisingly difficult thing to do in the NFL. Take Josh Allen, for instance. He’s one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks of all time, with over 4300 rushing yards and 68 rushing touchdowns. He has logged 50+ rushing yards in three consecutive games just twice in his entire eight-year NFL career.

That’s not the only special thing Dart accomplished on Thursday, either. He also became one of just three rookie QBs to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles since 2016. The only others to do so were Dak Prescott and Jayden Daniels.

Yes, Dart still has a long way to go in developing consistency as an NFL passer, but it’s great to see him making plays with his legs and dropping a few balls into the bread basket deep down field, even if some of his best passes are being dropped. The Giants clearly found a good one in Dart, and that should surprise absolutely no one.
