The NFL free agency cycle has slowed significantly now that the 2025 NFL Draft is just around the corner. Every year there are players who get left behind following the annual free agency frenzy, and every year there are quite a few surprises. This year, it's the wide receiver position that's been a bit puzzling.

There are several proven wide receiver talents who still don't have a home for the 2025 NFL season. Some are rather old, so it makes some sense as to why they may not be desired like they once were. Others have struggled with drops, or lack a complete receiver skill set. But one former Ole Miss Rebels star stands out as someone who should certainly be signed at this point: Elijah Moore.

Elijah Moore, Best Remaining NFL Free Agent WR?

Elijah Moore has logged at least 446 receiving yards in all four of his NFL seasons while playing for two of the sorriest franchises and offenses in the game (in the Jets and Browns). He's up to nearly 2200 career receiving yards, garnering almost 350 career targets, and he just turned 25 years old this month.

While there are certainly receivers who have produced more throughout their careers still available, almost none of them are still entering the potential prime of their careers (based on WR age and production arcs). Amari Cooper, Keenan Allen, Tyler Boyd, Tyler Lockett, and other older vets are still unsigned free agents too, but Moore could still have plenty of good years ahead of him. And many fanbases have been calling for Moore to be signed for a couple weeks now (a Broncos example below).

Elijah Moore still boasts the same 4.35-second forty-yard dash speed and athleticism that got him drafted early in round two of the 2021 NFL Draft. He hasn't been extremely efficient throughout his career, but he's been forced to play with quarterbacks like Zach Wilson, Mike White, PJ Walker, Dorian Thompson-Robinson and more terrible options. If given the opportunity with a real offense he could easily put together the most productive year of his career.

Ole Miss fans remember well the elite skill set that Elijah Moore brings to the table as he produced right away back in 2018 as a freshman while having to split targets with AJ Brown and DK Metcalf. Then of course he went on to become an All-American wide receiver as a junior after he put up over 1200 yards from scrimmage and eight touchdowns against exclusively SEC competition in the 2020 COVID season.

Elijah Moore is still the player who averaged nearly four yards per route run, accounting for nearly 40% of the Ole Miss production through the air in his final season. Is he a true "X" wide receiver in the NFL? No. But is he a hyper athletic slot wide receiver who can pair well with a talented perimeter wide receiver talent? Absolutely.

Hopefully an NFL team gives him a shot here soon. He certainly still deserves it give his age, athleticism, and consistent production in the pros.
