Jaxson Dart continues to rise up NFL Draft boards for many as he just keeps impressing every step of the way throughout this spring. He put together a strong showing at the NFL Combine while other passers there struggled, and the buzz coming out of Indianapolis was that he was certainly in the mix for first round capital. But now his hype seems to have reached new heights as the latest mock draft from NFL.com has him going extremely early in round one.
Charles Davis of NFL.com couldn't help himself on Wednesday as he published his latest first round mock draft for the 2025 NFL Draft. He predicted that the Tennessee Titans would select Shedeur Sanders (QB, Colorado) first overall, the Browns would take Cam Ward (QB, Miami), and then the Giants would pick Jaxson Dart at third overall.
That left some on social media a bit perplexed, and even a bit frustrated as you can see in the post below from football fanatic Carter Donnick.
Why the frustration, and at least confusion, at Jaxson Dart's continual ascension and red hot hype train? For many, it seems that Lane Kiffin's scheme at Ole Miss, and perhaps Jaxson Dart's lack of elite "Josh Allen" type arm talent, stand out as reasons to doubt the most efficient passer in the nation from last fall.
However, Jaxson Dart himself seems rather tired of the negative nonsense about Lane Kiffin's scheme. When asked about it at the NFL Combine last week he dismissed it (yet again) as a "lazy narrative".
When I talked with Jaxson Dart at the Senior Bowl I wanted to know how he perceived the "schematic concerns" and his game translating to the next level. He essentially dismissed those concerns there as well, stating that the biggest differences between "pro" systems and Kiffin's have to do with the terminology; not much else.
As more and more begin to realize that the majority of perceived issues with Jaxson Dart stem from mostly lazy narratives his expected 2025 NFL Draft stock continues to rise. The A to Z Sports team on-site at the NFL Combine continually heard that there would be three quarterbacks taken in the first round, with Jaxson Dart's name coming up in that mix quite often. And now the mock draft community is finally catching up to reality as well.
Jaxson Dart has always been a first round prospect at quarterback. It's only a matter of time until that's confirmed on draft day.
