Jaxson Dart sets yet another record as his Heisman Trophy campaign continues for Ole Miss after Week 4 victory

Jaxson Dart might be playing against a soft schedule to open the 2024 college football season, but it's impossible to completely discount his absurd level of near perfect quarterback play through four weeks for Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss.
Dart now leads all college football quarterbacks in passing yards per game, total yards per game, yards per play, adjusted yards per pass attempt, EPA/play, and most raw totals stats across the board. He's also on pace to destroy most every single season and career record for Ole Miss quarterbacks (including those set by Eli Manning). And if all that weren't enough Dart also decided to break yet another record in Saturday's 52-13 immolation of Georgia Southern.
Jaxson Dart now officially has more passing yards through four games than any and every single SEC QB in the last 20 years. Yes, that includes 2019 Joe Burrow, 2020 Mac Jones, and 2016 Drew Lock.
At this rate, Dart could quite seriously break the all-time record for passing yards in a season if Ole Miss wins a College Football Playoff game or two. The current record sits at 5,967 yards, set by Bailey Zappe of Western Kentucky back in 2021. If he paces with Joe Burrow he'll eclipse 5600 through 15 games, and he's already outdoing that rate right now.
Ole Miss' football schedule does get quite a bit more difficult over the next several weeks as they head to SEC play, but the Rebels' offense has been playing near perfection. Dart's current production rates could drop off by over 15% for the remainder of the 2024 season and he would still finish above the typically required statistical thresholds to win the Heisman Trophy.
Jaxson Dart hilariously compares Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin to legendary Star Wars character
The Ole Miss Rebels (3-0) have kicked off their 2024 season on a high note, quickly emerging as a serious contender not just for the College Football Playoff, but for the National Championship as well. So far, the Rebels have dominated their opponents, outscoring them 168 to 9 over the first three games. During an […]
Next week's matchup against Kentucky will be where we find out if Dart's 2024 season is truly real as the Wildcats just limited the Georgia Bulldogs and Carson Beck to 13 total points and 160 passing yards for zero passing touchdowns last weekend. If Dart finds a way to maintain record pace against the Wildcats' Top 5 defensive front headed up by future NFL first round defensive tackle Deone Walker then he'll almost assuredly become the odd-on favorite to win the Heisman Trophy.
