Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss Rebels hoping to keep top Transfer Portal target away from SEC rivals to help Austin Simmons

The Ole Miss Rebels offense is going to to look quite a bit different in 2025. Lane Kiffin will be without Jaxson Dart for the first time in 40 games as Austin Simmons is set to likely take the helm for Ole Miss as soon as college football spring practices kick off. The offensive weapons around the Rebels' new young quarterback will also be brand new for the most part, so what will that mean for the 2025 season?
Lane Kiffin has already been dominating the Transfer Portal this off-season to build the offense around Austin Simmons, but he's apparently not done. Ole Miss has added wide receivers De'Zhaun Stribling (Oklahoma State), Caleb Odom (Alabama), Traylon Ray (West Virginia), and Deuce Alexander (Wake Forest) already. Most all of those receivers bring significant experience and a variety unique skill sets. If this week's visit goes well Kiffin might have a wide receiver better than all four of those options here soon too.
Thanks to the extended Transfer Portal entry window for players still competing in the College Football Playoff, Penn State wide receiver Harrison Wallace all of a sudden became available following the Nittany Lions' exit in the semifinals. According to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports (among others), Wallace took a visit to Ole Miss on Friday.
He's also planning on visiting SEC rivals Texas A&M, South Carolina, and a couple other top schools, so hopefully Kiffin and his staff can keep Wallace away from them. This would completely revamp the Ole Miss wide receiver group if Wallace does indeed commit.
Harrison Wallace broke out in a big way this past season, catching around 50 receptions for over 700 yards as the team's most productive wide receiver weapon. He's a savvy veteran who could immediately provide leadership, experience, and proven production for Ole Miss.
The Rebels are losing star wide receivers Tre Harris, Juice Wells, and Jordan Watkins on top of tight end Caden Prieskorn, all to the 2025 NFL Draft. That might be extremely bad news for most teams, but not if your head coach is the Transfer Portal King like Lane Kiffin.
It may take a week or two to get official word on whether Wallace will be a Rebel as he clearly has a handful of visits to make. However, given how incredibly productive the Ole Miss offensive scheme has been for wide receivers and how close it is to home for Wallace (he's from Alabama) the Rebels certainly seem to have a strong shot to land him.
