Lane Kiffin is fresh off of bringing in the best Ole Miss Rebels high school recruiting class in nearly a decade mixed in with a top three Transfer Portal group. That was already impressive enough, but he's far from done this spring in targeting top talent for 2026 and beyond.

In early January it seemed that Ole Miss had somehow lost in a critical recruiting battle of a highly touted in-state four defensive line recruit to the Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers. But now he's decommitted from LSU and put Ole Miss back on his official visit schedule.

JaReylan McCoy, Four Star DL Recruit

JaReylan McCoy has been a top recruiting priority for Lane Kiffin and his staff dating back to the beginning of 2023 when McCoy was still just a freshman in high school. But even then it was clear that McCoy was going to become one of the most special players in entire country.

The Rebels offered early, visited ten times more often with him than anyone else since he's from Tupelo, Mississippi, just a short drive from Oxford. And then even after he committed to LSU Kiffin and company didn't give up. Since the start of the year McCoy has met with Kiffin or his staff members multiple times and that's what many believe led to his decommitment from LSU.

McCoy's recruitment is far from over or a "lock" for Ole Miss, but they Rebels look like one of the favorites as he's scheduled his summer visits. He'll be spending time this summer on official visits with Ole Miss, LSU, Auburn, and Texas A&M according to Chad Simmons, and confirmed via multiple sources.

Yes, the other schools receiving official visits are likely still technically in the running for McCoy's services, but Ole Miss should be considered the easy leader right now.

If Lane Kiffin and company can land McCoy he could very well become their next Walter Nolen if he fills out his frame a bit. And at the very least he should develop into something close to Jaredy Ivey or Princely Umanmielen if he leans more towards defensive end.

McCoy has put up special production three years in a row at the high school level, and should immediately slide into a potentially starting role if he lands with Ole Miss. He's too powerful, quick, and smart to keep off the field early.

It looks like this recruitment might stretch into the summer even if the Rebels are the heavy favorite. Let's just hope the Ole Miss staff can seal the deal. If so, the Rebels could start building towards yet another special 2026 recruiting class and repeating with one of the most incredible pass rush attacks in the country.
