Ole Miss Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin wasn’t happy at halftime on Saturday night.
And for good reason.
The officiating crew botched a hands to the face call against the Florida Gators that should’ve given Ole Miss a first-and-goal situation.
Instead, the officials said the penalty occurred after the play, which meant the Rebels had to settle for the field goal.
“Just really disappointing to have communication with the refs that came over [and were] trying to get it right,” said a frustrated Kiffin during the halftime interview with ESPN. “The hands to the face is during the play — let’s just get it right. It’s not that hard. So that’s just really discouraging to have that much time to talk about it and they admit they’re wrong now. So what good does that do?”
You can certainly understand Kiffin’s frustration. The Rebels need a win to stay in a good position in the College Football Playoff race, and that missed call could end up having a big impact on the outcome of the game.
