Ole Miss & Lane Kiffin have a lethal one, two punch on offense and it just embarrassed LSU in dominating fashion
Now it’s time to rest up on the bye week and prepare the homestretch.
On Saturday, No. 11 Ole Miss improved to 5-0. And it won’t be No. 11 much longer after a wild and wonderful Separation Saturday. The No. 4 LSU Tigers looked out of sorts all afternoon and had no answer for the Rebels’ offense.
The main two weapons on Saturday for Lane Kiffin’s offense were without a doubt quarterback Trinidad Chambliss and running back Kewan Lacy.
Chambliss and Lacy combined for 158 yards and a touchdown – averaging close to 4.5 yards per carry. Both were an excellent mix of thunder and lightning. A great mix of inside/outside zone, split zone, and designed quarterback runs ultimately spelled the Tigers’ doom in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
Ole Miss did a nice job mixing it up all day.
Kiffin zigged when Blake Baker zagged Saturday. Plain as that. The lethal combination of Chambliss and Lacy wearing down the LSU defense was impressive to say the least. Coming into the game, many believed the Tigers’ defense would be too much for Ole Miss and it’s “Division II” quarterback.
But, the starting quarterback at Ole Miss answered the call over and over and over. And it wasn’t just on the ground, he also made LSU pay through the air when the box was stacked and Baker tried to blitz him.
Chambliss was 23-for-39 for 314 yards and a touchdown – out dueling Garrett Nussmeier at every turn. Saturday’s performance was a perfect end to the first half of the schedule as the Rebels will prepare for the bye week.
But, the game was won on the ground with Chambliss and Lacy dominating the LSU defense with ease. And if Cayden Lee isn’t perfectly stripped inside the five-yard line, it’s a rout.

Brian Kelly gets trolled by Lane Kiffin immediately after LSU was upset by Ole Miss
Ole Miss outclassed LSU in almost every facet in their 24-19 upset of the Tigers on Saturday. Almost doubling the Tigers in first downs, dominating third downs, and creating 226 more offensive yards, the final score was much closer than the game seemed to be. LSU completely failed its major test, and Lane Kiffin was […]
Trinidad Chambliss grew up a lot Saturday.
“You definitely don’t want penalties and penalties are drive-killers but our guys persevered and made plays when plays came,” Chambliss said. “We took what the defense was giving us and we made plays.
“I had to erase (the interception) out of my mind and have a quick memory. Just execute on offense and play the next play.”
Now, you turn your attention to two big road contests at Georgia and at Oklahoma. Other than those two ball games, you play the rest of your games inside the state of Mississippi. You only leave Vaught-Hemingway Stadium once and it’s to drive down the road to Starkville. The time is now to make a CFP run if you’re Ole Miss. Even if you lose two SEC road games, 10-2 is more than enough to make the college football playoff.
