After beginning his career as a talented but inconsistent football player for the Florida Gators, pass rusher Princely Umanmielen transferred to Ole Miss and put together his very best season on the college level. In 12 games, he managed to collect 37 total tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks, and a forced fumble. That sack number nearly matched his last two seasons in Gainesville combined.

Umanmielen is now tackling the 2025 NFL Draft process heads on. On Wednesday, Umenmielen spoke to the media at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine about his process, and overall college experiences. He was also asked about helping to guide the next Ole Miss star, his younger brother Princewill Umanmielen.

"I try to tell my little brother you have to grow up fast. In my head, nobody could tell me I wasn’t going to go three and out when I first got to college. Then you look up and you’re a junior. It goes by really, really fast and it’s like damn, I’m not even mature yet. I just tell my little brother and some others that you have to grow fast and have to become a pro fast. You can’t be childish anymore. You really have to lock in and do everything outside of the facility, and the facility on your own to be a pro."

The younger Umanmielen transferred to Ole Miss this offseason after spending two seasons with the Nebraska Cornhuskers. In 23 games with the team, Umanmielen was credited with 35 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks. Despite that lack of production, he heads to the Rebels with some high expectations. The talent is there, and the program is hoping for a similar jump in production as his older brother.

In terms of maturing, Princely feels like the perfect person for his brother to emulate. While with the Gators, Umanmielen was said to have some maturity issues. His motor on the field would back up that narrative. A credit to him, Umanmielen was able to completely flip that narrative. He left Ole Miss as a stellar member of the Rebels team, and a huge reason why they had arguably the best defensive line in college football last season.

He now heads toward April with a lot of fans on the NFL side. Umanmielen is billed as one of the class's top pass rushers and a bonafide top 50 selection. His growth as a person and mentor is a big reason why he continues to move up boards, on top of his outstanding physical tools.
