The Lane Train is trying to hit a home run on a major recruiting visit weekend against Oklahoma. Ole Miss, who has to win this week to have the chance to make the College Football Playoff, now has more incentive to win. The Rebels will be hosting Alabama commit and 5-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham and some other key prospects.
Can head coach Lane Kiffin flip the 2025 No. 2 receiver? He's cited having great relationships with the coaching staff, so the Rebels aren't giving up.
The Rebels certainly have some momentum in the race, depending on who you ask. Three of 247Sports insiders have Alabama landing the Mississippi native, but David Johnson has projected him to Ole Miss. Steve Robertson has logged the highest confidence at a nine out of 10, but staying with Alabama.
Cunningham has been committed to Alabama since mid-July, yet he continues to take visits. The 6'1", 190-pound standout from Choctaw County High School in Mississippi is considered the No. 2 wide receiver in the country, the top player in Mississippi's 2025 class, and is ranked No. 15 nationally.
In the 247Sports rankings, he is placed as the No. 3 wide receiver in the nation, the No. 1 player from Mississippi, and No. 22 in the Top247.
Previously, Cunningham said, "It's the relationships I have with the coaches," when asked about why he'd visit Ole Miss while already committed. "Plus, I just felt it was time to go check them out and see what they're going to do. But it's really like the relationships I have with the coaches. They've been wanting me to come back and come check them out. I think this will be a better opponent they will play than the last time I went there."
Here's Gabe Brooks' scouting report of Cunningham:
Unverified size and athleticism, but clearly possesses physical traits and excellent functional athleticism on tape. Know less about him than most other wideouts in the class, but definitely aware that he's a dynamic basketball player with big production on the hardwood. Translates body control and bounce to ball-winning mismatch effectiveness at wideout. Unstoppable in red-zone situations. Strong-handed in traffic. Runs hard in run-after-catch situations and bowls his way through arm tackles. Long-striding gait that creates necessity for build-up speed. Natural route sense and spatial awareness. Question the top-end athlete from speed and lateral perspectives relative to others in the class, though athletic profile is admittedly excellent with the hoops context. Projects as a high-major impact player with a long-term ceiling that could lead to NFL Draft consideration.
