Ole Miss fans and Lane Kiffin may be losing the best quarterback in the history of the Rebels program to the NFL Draft this spring in Jaxson Dart, but there is some good news. The future of the program already looks like it's in good hands at quarterback with Austin Simmons stepping up this season. And even beyond that, Lane Kiffin and his staff just got some excellent news on the recruiting trail as they look to be closing in on their next top quarterback recruit commitment this week.
Landon Duckworth, Four Star QB Recruit
Landon Duckworth is a Top 100 overall recruit in the 2026 recruiting class that Lane Kiffin and his staff have been chasing after for quite some time. Ole Miss offered him way back in the fall of 2023 shortly after he committed to South Carolina.
Since then Duckworth has launched up the recruiting rankings, developing into one of the best quarterback recruits in the country. Fresh off a season of 4000+ total yards and 50+ total touchdowns the top programs in the country are still pursuing him, but Ole Miss looks like they may seal the deal soon.
David Johnson of Rebels 247 predicts that Landon Duckworth is going to commit to Ole Miss. This expert prediction comes immediately following Duckworth's most recent visit to Ole Miss.
Landon Duckworth has been seeing a lot of Ole Miss lately. He met with the Rebels in early February, then just saw staffers this past weekend again and apparently it went extremely well. It's not a lock just yet, but given the rising interest between Ole Miss and Duckworth, the official visit still to come in June, and the program's recent spike in success with sending players to the pros the odds look like they're leaning towards the Rebels.
This would be a huge get for Rebels fans as Ole Miss still doesn't have a 2026 quarterback recruit locked in just yet. Yes, Austin Simmons should be around at least for this upcoming 2025 season, and perhaps the next. However, if he's half as good as advertised he'll likely be headed to the NFL soon too. The program needs to find their next Jaxson Dart kind of passer with high upside mobility soon, and Landon Duckworth certainly fits the bill. Let's just hope Lane Kiffin can close this deal soon.
