The Ole Miss Rebels are facing a situation that will only prove how strong they are as a team. The head coach who helped them get to the College Football Playoff, Lane Kiffin, is no longer with the team. Now, Pete Golding is set to take over at the beginning of the postseason. They’re playing a team that they’ve already beaten in the Tulane Green Wave, so there has to be some optimism.

However, these games are not easy. They’ll be going against a great head coach in Jon Sumrall, who’s set to be the new Florida Gators head coach in 2026. Golding will have his hands full playing a Tulane team that can run the ball and move it down the field through the pass game.

Now, pretty much everyone has Ole Miss winning, and that’s fair, given how the first meeting went. But Tulane is going to be playing with that chip on their shoulder. There’s a playoff game in Oxford, Mississippi this weekend, and our experts game their final score predictions on who they have winning.

Ole Miss vs. Tulane Final Score Predictions

Ole Miss 37, Tulane 24

Ole Miss destroyed Tulane 45-10 the first time these two teams played this season, but that was way back in September. Since then, the Green Wave have gotten their act together, winning five in a row to end the season and rising up to win the AAC with an 11-2 overall record. Meanwhile, Ole Miss lost their head coach, Lane Kiffin, to LSU.

This will be the Rebels’ first game without Lane Kiffin leading the operation, so there might be a few hiccups early. However, once the offense gets its footing they’ll still put up a ton of points thanks to breakout star quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, 1400-yard and 20-touchdown running back Kewan Lacy, and the passing attack that has five different players over 30 receptions this season. The Rebels defense will do enough to hold as well, given they rank 17th in plays of 10+ yards allowed on defense. There might be an explosive or two (that has skewed Ole Miss’ defensive numbers) that helps Tulane keep it close for a while, but in the end Ole Miss wins 37-24. — Travis May, A to Z Sports College Football Managing Editor

Ole Miss 31, Tulane 14

The Green Wave get to keep their head coach for one more matchup, while Lane Kiffin is off to LSU already. I’m not sure it will make too much of a difference for Ole Miss here, though. They’re simply the more talented team with a lot of proven pieces on both sides of the football. While I think Tulane could find some early offensive success, I don’t see them being able to keep up in the second half of play with the pace of the Rebels offense that will find explosive plays in both the run and pass game. Ole Miss moves on here, and plenty of people will continue questioning the current layout for the CFP. — Adam Holt, A to Z Sports College Football Analyst

Ole Miss 34 Tulane 27

With all the drama surrounding two group of five teams getting into the playoff, there is a lot of pressure for their opponents to make easy work of them. The hope is that if both are blown out of the water, new rules will be established to prevent this from happening again. I don’t think that’s going to be the reality between Ole Miss and Tulane, though. Ole Miss is having to adjust to a new head coach, as Lane Kiffin has taken the LSU job. In Lane Kiffin fashion, it was quite the drama-filled endeavor that led to his exit from Ole Miss. I think the talent gap between Ole Miss and Tulane is large enough that Ole Miss will be able to overcome it, but I think it’ll end up being a closer game than some may expect. — Destin Adams, A to Z Sports College Football Analyst

Ole Miss 32, Tulane 13

The Ole Miss Rebels already beat Tulane once. While yes, they don’t have their head coach anymore, it’s still hard to see this team losing to a team they beat pretty badly already. Trinidad Chambliss is one of the very best quarterbacks in the country, and he could have his way against a team like Tulane, where there’s not a ton of talent. In this one, I have the Rebels winning. — Justin Churchill, A to Z Sports College Football Assistant Editor
