The Ole Miss Rebels recruiting has been running a bit behind for the 2026 recruiting class. They did just land Jett Goldsberry last week, and there have been a few wins since official visits season kicked off earlier this summer, but Lane Kiffin and company clearly still have some work to do seeing as their recruiting class doesn't even rank inside the top 30 in the country (as of this writing).
The good news is that at least one of the most important remaining recruiting battles is coming to a close this week–and Ole Miss looks like they might actually win this one.
Jerquaden Guilford, Four Star WR Recruit
The battle for four star wide receiver Jerquaden Guilford has been one of the most heated of the summer as he's narrowed down his finalist schools to Ole Miss, Ohio State, Indiana, and Michigan. Guilford has been climbing recruiting rankings boards for the last year as he's continued to grow into his 6'2", 190-pound frame, putting up more production by the year. He's become quite the field-stretching weapon that would fit perfectly in the Rebels' offense if he ends up committing to Lane Kiffin.
Guilford was initially looking to commit in June, with many recruiting experts believing he was leaning towards Ohio State (or perhaps Ole Miss). However, Guilford canceled his commitment, leading many to believe he was perhaps further considering Ole Miss. Now he's set his commitment date for July 18th at 5:30pm ET.
Ole Miss fans shouldn't feel 100% certain that Guilford is heading to the Rebels, but given Guilford's comments on consistent contact and interest this summer this looks promising.
Ohio State may look like the other major contender here for Guilford, but the Buckeyes already have four different four and five star wide receivers committed for their 2026 recruiting class. Not to mention the bevy of extremely high pedigree wide receivers already littered across their depth chart.
Ole Miss should offer a much clearer path to early playing time, while also showing recent proof of concept that they develop future NFL wide receivers too (with both Tre Harris and Jordan Watkins drafted just this year).
Hopefully Lane Kiffin closes the deal here with Guilford. Otherwise, Rebels fans may need to start worrying about the 2026 recruiting class.
