A familiar face, a young wide receiver and a surprising passer lead the way in this week’s Oregon Duck’s stock report
This week’s stock up and stock down report has a few new names on it.
The Oregon Ducks may have escaped with a win over Wisconsin, but it was anything but pretty. On a rain-soaked night in Eugene, the Ducks slogged their way to an ugly victory that tested their toughness more than their talent. The elements made offense hard to come by, and while Oregon’s defense held strong, the inconsistency on the other side of the ball was impossible to ignore. Still, a win is a win, and as the Ducks head into the bye week, it’s time to take stock of who’s trending up and who needs to regroup after a gritty, weather-beaten performance at Autzen Stadium.
Stock Up
Jordon Davison RB
Davison has been a staple on the stock-up list, but it’s for good reason. He has steadily risen up the running back depth chart and is now looking like the team’s RB1. His bruising running style and physical play are perfect for when the Ducks need to close out games. He led the Ducks in rushing against Wisconsin and finished with 102 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
Jeremiah McClellan WR
A first timer in this article, McLellan has come on in recent weeks and has seen his playing time increase. He actually outsnapped Malik Benson in the win against Wisconsin and finished second in receiving on the team. He has flashed excellent hands and an ability to get open at all three levels of the field.
Brock Thomas QB
What can I say about Brock freaking Thomas? The backup quarterback came in during the second half of the game in relief of an injured Dante Moore and played very well. He led the Ducks to a scoring drive late in the game, where he delivered a fun touchdown pass to an offensive tackle. Thomas took care of the ball, showed poise, and was able to escape pressure with his legs. The Ducks must feel great about their backup quarterback’s performance.
Stock Down
Isaiah World OT
World has all the talent in the world (no pun intended) but has given up far too much pressure in recent weeks. He gets beaten off the edge routinely in known passing-down situations and has been a primary reason Dante Moore hasn’t been able to deliver passes down the field. While I still believe in World’s talent, he has to play better in the team’s next few games.
