As the 2025 college football season approaches, analysts across the landscape have rolled out their latest projections—ranking teams, forecasting records, and staking claims on conference champions and playoff contenders. With the Oregon Ducks entering their second year in the Big Ten, analysts have weighed heavily on their prospects. Whether slotting the Ducks near the top of their rankings or forecasting tight title races against heavyweights like Ohio State and Penn State, these early predictions offer a compelling baseline before the action begins on the field.

Three top college football analysts recently gave their season predictions and playoff bracket. Let’s examine where the Ducks fall in each.

Season Predictions

Josh Pate

Ducks fans will be fans of Pate, according to his season prediction. Pate has the Ducks finishing as a four seed and then playing a second-round playoff game against Clemson. Pate has the Ducks beating Clemson and advancing to the semi finals where the team takes on Penn State which Pate has Oregon winning. In this prediction, Oregon faces Alabama in the National Championship but ultimately comes up short on the program’s first championship as Pate predicts Alabama beating Oregon.

Joel Klatt

Klatt is usually a fan of the Duck program, and that continues here in his prediction. Klatt predicted that Oregon would be the sixth seed, taking on the eleventh seed Michigan, with the Ducks winning that initial matchup. In the second round, Klatt has Oregon taking on Clemson and losing to the Tigers. Klatt has the Tigers winning the Championship in this exercise, and that would make it the second year in a row the team has lost to the eventual national champion.

Bruce Feldman

Feldman is a longtime respected college football analyst, but Duck fans won’t be happy with him based on his season predictions. Feldman has Oregon missing the 12-team playoff and not making a run in the postseason. He has two other BIG-TEN teams, Ohio State being the fifth seed and Penn State being the third seed. Feldman responded to tweets asking why the Ducks aren’t in it and which games he sees them losing.

He said, “ The three games I thought they would lose are at Penn State, at Iowa, and at Washington.”

Losing three games would certainly be disappointing for head coach Dan Lanning and his staff, but it’s not totally out of the question. The BIG-TEN is one of the country’s best conferences, and Oregon is replacing 18 starters from the 2024 team. I expect Oregon to beat Washington, but there could also be another game where the team falls.

All in all, the season predictions are more fun than anything else, and the games will ultimately be played on the field. Duck fans will be ready for whatever this 2025 season brings, both good and bad.
