Bragging rights were on the line in the NFL locker room this past weekend, and Oregon came out on top twice – once on the field, and once off it. After the Ducks’ dramatic double-overtime win over Penn State, former Oregon star Kayvon Thibodeaux wasted no time cashing in on a friendly wager with his New York Giants teammate, linebacker Abdul Carter.

The terms? Simple. Whoever’s alma mater lost had to wear the other team’s gear at their next media availability. And on Wednesday, Carter had to pay up.

A bet is a bet

Carter, a former Penn State standout, showed up to his post-practice interview session dressed in Oregon colors – courtesy of Thibodeaux, who couldn’t resist having fun at his teammate’s expense.
When asked how it felt to be rocking Ducks gear after such a tough loss, Carter kept it lighthearted:

“I do like Oregon’s colors but… it’s all good. It was a tough loss but we going to bounce back, it’s just one game.”
The bet was all in good fun, and Carter even hinted at payback. When asked if he had any plans to get Thibodeaux into Penn State gear at some point, Carter smiled and said:
“I hope so, I hope so.”

For Thibodeaux, it was another chance to rep his Ducks after one of the biggest wins of their season – a road test at Penn State that proved Oregon’s toughness and defensive resolve. For Carter, it was a reminder that friendly competition doesn’t stop when you leave college.

The playful troll job made for one of the lighter moments of the Giants’ week, and it showed the bond between two young defenders who still carry plenty of pride for their college programs. If the two schools meet again down the road, you can bet the stakes in the locker room will only get higher.
