Oregon wrapped up their first season in the Big Ten in impressive fashion, winning the conference championship with an undefeated record before heading to the Rose Bowl in the second round of the College Football Playoffs.
Last year, it started with University of Oregon making a grand statement by floating a giant rubber duckie down the river in Indianapolis to announce their arrival at the Big Ten Media Days. This year's event has been scheduled, with a new venue set to be the home location. It's, uh, quite a choice. This event is a huge opportunity for Dan Lanning to put his name behind Dante Moore as a leader of the Oregon program.
Big Ten Media Days will be a three day event from July 22-24, and will take place at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Why they're putting the event in the middle of the desert in late July is beyond me, but I digress.
Coverage will be televised on Big Ten Network. Based on years past, each team will send their head coach and a player from offense and defense. With the Ducks set to turn the reins at quarterback over to Dante Moore, it would be quite a signal of confidence from Dan Lanning to dub him the player that represents the Ducks offense.
On Defense, there are a few returning players that figure to be crucial leaders. Matayo Uiagalelei will take his spot as the unquestioned leader on the defensive line, with linebacker and two-sport athlete Bryce Boetcher resuming his role at middle linebacker.
Oregon is primed to return as a top contender on the national stage, with a load of talented players returning aided by elite transfer portal and recruiting classes. Dan Lanning is doing everything the right way to build Oregon into a program that will deserve annual respect.
