It's been talked about since the summer — Dillon Gabriel, joining the Oregon Ducks via the transfer portal to take over the reins at the starting quarterback position left by the departure of Bo Nix for the NFL, had a legitimate shot this season to etch his name into the history books for multiple records at the quarterback position.

With three touchdown passes against Maryland, Gabriel now stands along at the top with the most career passing touchdowns in college football history with 179.

It was a majorly Oregon type of play call. With an opportunity to take the record, they dialed up a play action pass to a backup offensive lineman. It's objectively hilarious.

"You can't go through that game without recognizing, you know, having the all time touchdown leader in the NCAA with Dillon Gabriel, and what he was able to accomplish there. He'll be the first one to tell you he doesn't care, but he should, because that's a really special moment for him. So I'm glad that we got to celebrate tonight with him," head coach Dan Lanning said after the game.

Without their top wide receiver, Tez Johnson, in action, the passing game certainly didn't look as smooth as we're used to seeing it look. There were multiple drops, penalties killing drives, and Gabriel finished with a season-low 183 passing yards. It was also the first time Gabriel has failed to eclipse 200 passing yards in a game this season.

Gabriel has put his mark on this offense, running an explosive, efficient unit that is capable of putting up points with the best of them. Even in what felt like a very choppy performance for the team as a whole, the Ducks were still able to put up 39 points. Gabriel and the Ducks will travel to Wisconsin next weekend for their last road game of the regular season before a bye week rest to gear up for a home matchup with the Washington Huskies.
