Dakorien Moore has been the most highly coveted wide receiver recruit in the 2025 recruiting class for more than two years now. With nearly 40 FBS scholarship offers, record-setting track times, phenomenal production on the field, and a skill set unmatched by any other high school wide receiver returning this fall, Moore is clearly one of the most special players in college football recruiting history.

Many schools were after him, but only one school could land his commitment. And after months of back and forth, official visits, and hype he finally did commit this week.

Dakorien Moore Commits to Oregon

Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks officially got word from Dakorien Moore just before the fireworks went off all around the United States (celebrating July 4th) that he would be joining them in Eugene, Oregon in 2025. He shared his announcement with Hayes Fawcett of On3 by saying, "I choose the path to be different and build a legacy, let's sco [ducks]."

Moore had decommitted from LSU in May after long speculation that he would do exactly that. Shortly thereafter he visited Oregon, Texas, and Ohio State, all of whom were in his final four with the LSU Tigers heading into his commitment date.

Many believed that Moore's home state team of Texas would land his commitment even just hours before the official word came in. However, Moore's family had made it clear for well over a month that Oregon had held a special place with them as a priority visit immediately following his decommitment from LSU.

What Dakorien Moore means for Oregon

As of this writing, Dakorien Moore is the highest rated recruit in the history of Oregon Ducks recruiting (according to the 247Sports Composite). His recruitment immediately vaults Oregon near the top of projected team class rankings for 2025. And it gives Dan Lanning yet another win, proving that he's truly creating a national power on the west coast that should be able to contend for national championships every single year.

Moore brings with him record setting speed (as his 4×200 meter relay team broke the US high school track record this spring) that should be an immediate game changer from day one for the Ducks. And if he has the success on the field that many expect, Moore could break the stigma surrounding Oregon wide receivers and NFL Draft capital as they haven't had a first round WR selected since 1972.

There's a real chance Moore's recruitment marks the beginning of a new era for Oregon Ducks football where they begin to win not only in recruiting, but on the field at the very highest levels. Expect more high pedigree players to follow in Moore's footsteps very soon.
