Dan Lanning and the Ducks were aggressive in the transfer portal, going after the top options available to attempt to fill plenty of team needs. With a ton of players heading off to the NFL, the players that the Ducks brought in via the transfer portal are going to be crucial to the team's success in 2025.
Three players in particular are going to be crucial to them team's success, and they have every opportunity to be day one impact players when Oregon takes the field in the fall.
Makhi Hughes, running back
Oregon is an offense that prioritizes having a good ground game, and with last year's lead running back Jordan James off for the NFL, there was a massive void on the roster. They wasted no time, going after the top running back in the transfer portal, Makhi Hughes.
Hughes is the older brother of one of Oregon's top 2025 recruits, defensive back Na'eem Offord. That connection certainly didn't hurt the Ducks' chances of landing the talented running back, who has over 2,700 rushing yards and over 30 rushing touchdowns on his resume.
Isaiah World, tackle
Losing stud left tackle Josh Conerly Jr. to the NFL, who has a good chance of going in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, leaves a huge opening on the Ducks' offensive line.
Oregon wasted no time bringing in Isaiah World, who 247 Sports had ranked as the top player in the transfer portal this year. The 6-foot-8 offensive lineman figures to slot in at left tackle to protect new starting quarterback Dante Moore.
Dillon Thieneman, safety
The Ducks lost both of their starting safeties, who graduated and moved on from the program. Dillon Thieneman is a veteran safety that combined for 210 tackles, 7 TFL, 9 PBU, and 6 INT in 2 years with the Purdue Boilermakers.
Thieneman is a compactly built safety at 6-foot, 205 lbs, and he was laser timed in high school with a 4.36 second 40-yard dash. He's athletic, has good ball skills, and is a strong tackler. Thieneman is going to bring a strong presence to the defensive backfield of Oregon.
