Oregon is coming off an absolutely elite recruiting haul, specifically in their secondary. One of their top incoming freshmen, Na'eem Offord, is clearly ready for his opportunity.
With spring practices underway, Offord took to social media for his first post in Oregon colors.
Offord was a 5-star recruit out of Alabama, ranked as one of the best cornerbacks in the country. There were previously some questions swirling about whether or not Offord was going to play safety, which was quickly answered by defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi. Definitively, Offord was recruited as a cornerback. That's where he'll play.
With Oregon needing to get taller in the secondary, bringing in an elite freshman that stands 6-foot-1 should be exciting for Dan Lanning and Ducks fans everywhere.
As one of three elite cornerbacks in this year's freshmen class, accompanied by Dorian Brew and Brandon Finney, how fast they earn playing time remains to be seen. If the reports out of spring camp are any indication, they could be ready to make a big impact when they make it on the field.
"They all fit the profile – height, weight, speed. They look the part for sure when you come out there and watch this practice. They don't look like true freshmen. They've all got size. They've got tremendous length and arm length. They're as talented as they come," Oregon co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach Chris Hampton.
Offord seems happy to be back on a football field. With an unsettled depth chart, it will be fascinating to see how fast he can earn meaningful reps.
One of Oregon’s biggest transfer portal additions is drawing rave reviews from teammates at spring practice
Ducks fans should be hyped.
