Nobody can stop talking about freshman wide receiver Dakorien Moore through spring practices. As much as it's important to not put the cart in front of the horse with freshman, the hype around the impact Moore can make, even as early as this season, continues to build.
If Moore is able to force his way onto the field this year, it would be a major change from what we've seen from head coach Dan Lanning in his tenure at Oregon. More than anything, it would show just how big of a statement Moore has been making this early.
"Lanning has not played too many young players on offense in three seasons. Conerly didn’t start as a true freshman," Geoff Schwartz of Fox Sports posted on X. "The young WRs and RBs haven’t seen much action … but it seems clear based on video released and stories about practice that Dakorien Moore will have a big role as a true freshman."
“He’s a freak for sure,” quarterback Austin Novosad said. “He runs very explosive routes. Goes up and high points the ball. I think he’s going to make lots of plays for us the years he’s here.”
This all coming in the last week since presumed starting quarterback Dante Moore raved about what Dakorien has been doing thus far. It would be a stark change of direction for Lanning, but if a player is good enough to kick the door down, I expect Lanning to be wise enough to give him the opportunity.
Dante Moore to Dakorien Moore is a connection that's continuing to build. If things keep going the direction they're going right now, we could see it as early as Week 1.
