The Oregon Ducks are the No. 1 team in the country and they're running away with it. Now they have the benefit of a late bye week to rest up before their last regular season game against the hated rival Washington Huskies.

This week to rest and recover comes at a much-needed moment in the season when the Ducks are on the heels of a brutal stretch of adversity that no other team in college football has had to go through.

The Ducks have played eight straight weeks of conference play, winning them all. As Fox Sports' Joel Klatt mentioned, the final game in that stretch was a hard-fought one, with Oregon trailing in the fourth quarter. The team is battle-tested and resilient, proving that they can win the physical, grinding games as well.

Now add in the travel that Oregon has had to go through — their schedule Since October 12th has had them play in Eugene, at Purdue, back to Eugene, at Michigan, back to Eugene, and at Wisconsin. The last six weeks have been a constant flight patter to the midwest and back.

Now, the Ducks are done traveling, at least until any potential College Football Playoff games that could see them travel. Back in Eugene, the Ducks will get to rest and recover, hopefully gearing up for a late-season return of edge rusher Jordan Burch and wide receiver Tez Johnson to chase down their ultimate goal of hunting down a National Championship.
