It's been an incredible day for the Ducks, who have surged to the No. 2 recruiting class in the country after their latest signings. No team can get every player they want, though, and that's certainly true for Oregon.
After getting a prediction over the weekend that the Ducks would be able to flip the No. 2 tight end in the country in Linkon Cure from Kansas State, in the end, they weren't able to win out over his home state team.
"I had an awesome visit last weekend at the the University of Oregon," Cure said live on On3's National Signing Day show. "leaving Oregon there was a lot of rumors about some decisions I was going to make, you know, if I was going to make the flip and honestly, I thought about it. I didn't sleep last night. I was thinking about it all night. I even had a graphic made. But you know, I kept reminding myself, I took all those visits as a junior and, I took all those [official visits], and I really thought my whole process through.
"I kind of have to remind myself of what I committed to, what my values are, and what really mattered to me and who I wanted to be as a person, who I wanted to be as a player, so I'll be sticking with Kansas State."
Cure was so close to flipping that he said he even had a graphic made announcing his commitment to Oregon. That's about as close as it gets without going through with it.
Outside of Cure, Oregon is having a monumental day, with plenty of names still on the board. Oregon is pushing hard to finish with the top recruiting class in the country.
