The chase for the top recruit in the country is almost over. Jackson Cantwell, the elite offensive tackle that the Ducks have been pursuing for months, has set a date to announce his commitment, setting up a massive week for the Oregon Ducks.

Cantwell will be announcing his commitment on Wednesday April 30th, just a handful of days after he reportedly will be in Eugene for Oregon's Spring Game on April 26th. All of this is set to transpire right before the commitment announcement of the country's top quarterback, Jared Curtis, who will be choosing between Oregon and Georgia on May 5. Buckle up.

That stretch from April 26 to May 5 has the possibility of defining the 2026 recruiting class for Dan Lanning and the Ducks. If he's able to lock down both Cantwell and Curtis, then Oregon will be squarely in the running for the top recruiting class in the country when it's all said in done, headlined by a pair of elite recruits that will have an opportunity to make a major impact on the program.

If he's not, then it's not all doom and gloom. Oregon is still chasing essentially all of the top recruits in the country, heavily involved in conversations with the No. 2 lineman, Immanuel Iheanacho, while also pursuing top talent across the board at some other critical positions.

Immediately following the 2025 NFL Draft, attention will turn to the two biggest chips yet to fall for the Oregon Ducks recruiting class, with Oregon getting the chance to make the last impression on the country's top player just days before he chooses. With an opportunity to develop and contribute right away, there's plenty that's shaping up for Oregon to have a real chance at landing the recruiting class cornerstone.
