The Oregon Ducks enter their upcoming matchup against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights as heavy favorites, with oddsmakers showing increasing confidence in the Ducks. The game is set for October 18th at SHI Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey, and will air nationally on the Big Ten Network.

Betting on a rebound

When the opening betting line was released, Oregon was favored by 15.5 points, but that number has since climbed to –16.5 as the week progresses. Earlier lines listed the Ducks as –14.5 favorites, with a moneyline near –610 and an over/under total of 57.5 points. The movement reflects strong public and betting support for Oregon to bounce back after a tough loss.

The Ducks enter the game with a 5–1 record, coming off their first defeat of the season against Indiana. Despite the setback, Oregon has displayed balance and depth on both sides of the ball this year. Their offense continues to thrive behind efficient quarterback play and a productive rushing attack, while the defense has been a difference-maker—generating turnovers and applying consistent pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Head coach Dan Lanning’s group remains in the mix for a playoff run if they can regain momentum and handle business in the coming weeks.

Rutgers, on the other hand, faces an uphill battle. The Scarlet Knights sit at 3–3 overall and are still searching for their first Big Ten victory (0–3). They’re coming off a 38–19 loss to Washington, where missed opportunities in the red zone and defensive breakdowns proved costly.

Quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis has thrown for more than 1,700 yards this season but has struggled with protection, being sacked 18 times while throwing three interceptions. Running back Antwan Raymond remains the team’s offensive bright spot, leading the way with 560 rushing yards and nine touchdowns.

As Oregon looks to rebound from last week’s disappointment, this matchup presents a chance to reset and reassert its dominance. For Rutgers, the challenge is clear—slow down Oregon’s high-powered offense and capitalize on any mistakes. The Ducks aim to strengthen their playoff résumé, while the Scarlet Knights hope to make a statement at home and turn their season in a new direction.
