The Oregon Ducks are in the thick of a recruiting battle for 5-star tight end Linkon Cure. Ducks head coach Dan Lanning made sure to make his best impression during his official visit this past weekend, and the details are a good sign of where the Ducks feel they're positioned. Can the Ducks beat out Texas A&M, Kansas State, and Kansas for Cure?

Dan Lanning Picks Up Linkon Cure on Ducks Visit

Most recruiting visits have an assistant providing transportation services from the airport to the campus. But Lanning didn't waste Cure's time, instead opting to meet the high-end recruit at baggage claim. According to On3's Steve Wiltfong, the Ducks "continued to impress" Cure and his family throughout the visit.

Cure had previously visited Oregon during their spring game. They've continued to chase the Kansas product, facing stiff competition from more local teams. Both the Jayhawks and Wildcats are considered more likely landing spots, with Kansas State earning several crystal ball predictions.

After producing 946 yards and 14 touchdowns as a junior, the 5-star talent ranks 26th in the nation on recruiting services boards. He's previously been very complimentary of Oregon, so the Ducks still have a chance:

"Everything about Oregon makes Oregon different from the rest. Obviously, facilities are top-notch and always will be, but you can feel it from just talking to coaches and staff members that they have an amazing alignment throughout the program.”

The emergence of Texas A&M as a recruiting foe is linked to the arrival of offensive coordinator Collin Klein. The former Kansas State QB and assistant immediately prioritized Cure, and the tight end has been clear he's created a bond with their staff since.

The massive 6-foot-6, 220-pounder earned a 98 grade from 247Sports and is the No. 2 tight end in the country. Composite lists have him a little lower, but it's clear that with only four visits on his docket, a formal decision will come down to his relationships with four very different schools.
