2 Penn State players decided not to celebrate with the rest of their team after the Pinstripe Bowl win over Clemson
Penn State beat Clemson in the Pinstripe Bowl 22-10.
The Penn State Nittany Lions somewhat turned around a season that started as a disaster. PSU beat the Clemson Tigers in the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium in terribly cold weather to finish their season at 7-6, which is far better than most anticipated after the first three games.
The postgame scene was great, as Penn State fans and coaches celebrated the win and ended the season on a good note. However, not all players were celebrating. As most of them gathered around midfield to celebrate, some of them dumping Bad Boy mowers’ Grass Clippings on interim head coach Terry Smith, two guys walked off the field.
According to Avery Hill of the Providence Journal, redshirt freshman wide receiver Tyseer Denmark and redshirt sophomore quarterback Jaxon Smolik left the field early.
In the video posted by Hill, you can see Denmark throw his helmet into the giant tub that collects them and walk into the locker room with the entire team behind him, at midfield. As for Smolik, Hill just posted a picture of him walking with the team behind him at midfield.
In the video and picture, the two players obviously don’t look very happy.
Penn State’s new era starts as soon as its Pinstripe Bowl game ends
We could see those two guys transfer out, or they could very well stay. The Nittany Lions are about to have a ton of change happen over the next few months. Instead of hiring interim head coach Terry Smith as the next full-time head coach, they went with former Iowa State head coach Matt Campbell.
This win officially ended one era and began another. Campbell will bring in his own guys, and a ton of these players may be on different teams next season.
However, it was good to see this team finish the season with a win.
