The 2025 NFL Draft class is not expected to be as deep at quarterback as the 2024 one was, but there are still several intriguing names to watch.

One of those is Penn State signal-caller Drew Allar, who has shown flashes that have caught him a lot of attention at times, but there's also been plenty of tape to show he's still in need of further development.

Could he build upon his already notable foundation to make a bigger jump into the spotlight during the 2024 college football season? That will remain to be seen, but it seems Allar has already caught the attention of the most important figures — members of the NFL.

According to ESPN's Matt Miller, multiple in the league are already high on the Nittany Lions passer.

"Making phone calls as I prep for the upcoming season," Miller wrote on X. "One thing I'm hearing from scouts who have watched 2023 tape is that Penn State QB Drew Allar has a lot of fans in the NFL. Will be interesting to see the jump he can make this season, but there are scouts who see a Top 50 ranking if he hits his potential."

Allar, previously a five-star prospect, finished out the 2023 season with a 59.9% completion rate, passing for 2,631 yards with 25 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. While he had his ups and downs, there is still a lot to like about his game — as would seem obvious based on the way he's already captured the interest of the NFL.

Former Penn State quarterback Christian Hackenberg had praise for Allar when we spoke to him on the quarterback last year.

"He does things for a guy at a young age in terms of checking the ball down, staying on schedule and being efficient that I never had when I was playing and when you look around a see a lot of guys who have the type of talent he does, they struggle finding that, really, until they're in the league because they just get away with stuff at the college level," Hackenberg said.

"I think he processes well, I think he plays on time, he doesn't hang onto the ball too long. There are things he's going to start feeling, the clock is going to speed up, his movement inside the pocket and understanding of protections and all of that is hopefully going to continue to develop."

While he's shown a lot on the field tangibly speaking, Hackenberg also sees a lot of positive in Allar from an intangibles perspective.

"I love his temperament. I think he's very poised for a guy who hasn't necessarily been in the center of the spotlight," Hackenberg continued. "The way he carries himself and the way he plays is still yet to be seen."

It will be interesting to watch how Allar continues to grow as Penn State kicks off the season against the West Virginia Mountaineers on Aug. 31.
