Aggies on the verge of beating an SEC school for the second time this season thanks to impressive recruiting flip during Early Signing Period
Texas A&M could beat the Florida Gators for the second time this year, this time flipping a prized recruit to College Station
The Texas A&M Aggies have built one of the best classes of the 2026 recruiting cycle thanks to the efforts of head coach Mike Elko and company on and off the field. The Aggies sit ninth in 247Sports’ Recruiting rankings and have inked an outstanding building block for the future. However, they aren’t done yet. If the latest recruiting news holds true, the Aggies are about to once again deliver a stinging defeat to an SEC opponent they already beat once on the field already this year.
A few days before the Early Signing Period began, four-star running back Carsyn Baker decommitted from the Florida Gators. While Florida and new head coach Jon Sumrall are working to re-secure his commitment, another school has come along to throw their hat in the ring, and could snatch Baker right from under the Gators’ noses (snouts?).
A Baker to College Station?
According to Chad Simmons, the Director of Recruiting for Rivals, A&M has taken the lead in Baker’s recruiting. The Aggies have hosted Baker for visits before, but those stopped once he committed to Florida. His relationship with running backs coach Trooper Taylor never wavered though, and that relationship could be the difference-maker in this recruiting.
The No. 15 running back in the class, Baker is a big play threat waiting to happen anytime he touches the ball. His film is riddled with explosive run after explosive run, and he has true three-down potential with his ability as a receiver and the frame to hold up in pass protection. Landing another talented running back would be huge for A&M after the sudden flip of Jonathan Hatton last week to the Oklahoma Sooners.
Baker is set to sign the morning of December 4th. We’ll see what he decides, but this could be a big win for the Aggies.
